"I HAD NO IDEA that switch existed!"

For years, I hated fundoscopy. It seems I'm not the only one.

It was uncomfortable for the patient. Frustrating for me. And despite being taught repeatedly how to use a direct ophthalmoscope, I still felt like I could barely see anything useful.

Then I realized something important:

We’ve been taught fundoscopy the wrong way.

After years of trial and error, I've been teaching my residents the 5-step fundoscopy system that completely changed how I examine eyes.

Since using it, I’ve consistently been able to visualize the retina — and one time, it helped me catch a life-threatening diagnosis.

A patient later came back to my clinic and said:

“You saved my life.”

I replied, "no, the neurosurgeon did."

But he was still grateful I picked up his papilledema and sent him to ER!

You can do it too.

I've now put the complete system for free in a video.

Even though I've been posting clincial videos online for over a decade now, I've never had so many colleagues approach me in clinic about a video until this one.

"I HAD NO IDEA that switch existed!"

I want to teach you the exact system I use every day.

The mnemonic is simple:

LIGHTS

Because sometimes the biggest problem with fundoscopy… is that nobody ever showed us how to turn the lights on properly.

  • L = Lights Off

  • I = Instruct

  • G = Glare Reduction

  • H = Head to Head

  • T = Target

LIGHTS.

Try it on your next patient.

You may be surprised what you finally start seeing.
